Stop Buying Point Tools at Conferences

Multifamily Leadership sat down with Kerry Kirby, CEO of 365 Connect, to talk about what still creates an edge when every competitor can buy the same AI chatbot off the same show floor. His answer, in short: the old move of walking the exhibit hall, picking a shiny point solution, and bolting it onto your stack is already obsolete.

Here's why that stings. Your leasing CRM, your ILS integrations, and whatever AI tool you added last quarter were never built to talk to each other. Each one has its own lead definition, its own dedupe logic, its own idea of what counts as a "qualified" prospect. Stack three or four of those on top of each other and you don't get smarter marketing. You get three systems arguing about whose number is real, and you're the one who has to referee it in the ownership meeting.

The fix isn't another vendor demo. It's deciding, on purpose, whether your CRM and leasing platform are the backbone AI sits inside, or whether you keep layering point tools on top of a foundation that was never designed to hold them. If you're renewing contracts this year, that's the actual question to ask every vendor in the room: does this connect to what I already run, or does it just add one more silo with a nicer dashboard.

If you can't answer that about your current stack, you don't have an AI strategy. You have a pile of subscriptions.
