iOS 27 Just Broke Half Your Tracking Stack

Apple shipped iOS 27 in mid-September and, without warning, started blocking data and identity vendors outright. LiveRamp, Permutive, and Audigent were on the original hit list, per AdExchanger's reporting out of Advertising Week New York. Not throttled. Not sandboxed. Blocked.

Here's why you care even though you've never heard of half those companies. Your agency or in-house specialist doesn't run a Meta campaign in a vacuum. They run it through a stack: an identity resolver, a data onboarding tool, maybe a retargeting layer, all stitched together so that a click on a one-bedroom ad turns into a lead in your CRM with a source tag that isn't a lie. When Apple kicks a link out of that chain, the stitching doesn't fail loudly. It fails quietly, as underreported leads, inflated cost-per-lead, and attribution that looks fine until occupancy doesn't match the dashboard.

Nobody at Advertising Week has a clean fix yet. That's the honest state of things, and your vendor should say so plainly rather than promising a workaround they shipped over a long weekend.

The real risk for a leasing budget isn't the OS update itself. It's a channel partner quietly switching measurement methodology to patch the gap, and nobody telling you the Tuesday numbers and the November numbers aren't counting the same thing.

Ask your vendor
  1. 01Were we using any of the originally blocked vendors, LiveRamp, Permutive, or Audigent, in our current media stack, and for which channels specifically?
  2. 02Has the blocked list grown since mid-September, and if so, which tools in our stack are now affected?
  3. 03What exact attribution or reporting methodology changed for our campaigns since the iOS 27 rollout, and on what date did that change take effect?
  4. 04Can you show me a side-by-side of our lead-source numbers from August versus October so I can see whether the counting logic shifted under the same label?
  5. 05If our cost-per-lead changes more than 10% month over month from here out, how will you distinguish an actual demand change from a measurement artifact?
  6. 06What is our fallback measurement plan if Apple adds more vendors to the block list before year end?
