Google Brought Back Lookalike Tiers for Video, Sort Of
Remember Lookalike audiences? The feature that let you tell Google "find me more people like the ones who already toured" and pick how wide a net to cast? When Demand Gen absorbed Video campaigns, those reach tiers went missing, and prospecting got a lot more like guessing. Now, per PPC Land's reporting, the narrow, balanced and broad tiers are back for Video buyers at 2.5%, 5% and 10%, with seed lists needing at least 100 matched people to work at all.
Here's the part that should make you sit up: two Google support pages reportedly disagree on how this works. That's not a nitpick. If your agency is optimizing off one page's assumptions and the platform is actually running on the other's, your prospecting budget is targeting a different audience than the one in the strategy deck. For an apartment operator, prospecting isn't a nice-to-have line item. It's the budget that finds renters who've never heard of you, before they start typing your competitor's name into Google. A seed list under 100 matched visitors, which describes a lot of smaller communities or new lease-ups, may not even qualify to run broad lookalike targeting at all.
This also isn't dated. PPC Land doesn't say when this rolled out or whether it's fully live everywhere, which means your rep should be able to tell you exactly what's live on your account right now, not what's live "generally."
Ask these on your next call, and don't accept a vague nod as an answer.
