CallRail Now Tracks Calls From ChatGPT Ads
CallRail rolled out an integration that attributes calls, texts, and form fills to ChatGPT ad campaigns, and pushes that conversion data back to OpenAI so agencies and SMBs can compare it against Google and other channels.
Nobody's buying ChatGPT ads for their apartment community yet. That's not the point. The point is that somebody built the attribution plumbing before most operators even asked for it, which is usually a sign the traffic is coming whether your reporting is ready or not.
Right now your source report probably has three buckets: Google, ILS, and "direct," which is marketing-speak for "we have no idea." Add an AI chat platform sending qualified prospects your way and you've got a fourth bucket nobody's built a column for. If a renter asks ChatGPT to find them a two-bed near the medical district and it hands them your leasing number, you want to know that call came from an AI assistant and not just log it as "direct" again.
The move here isn't to run ads on ChatGPT next quarter. It's to check whether your call tracking vendor, CallRail or otherwise, has any visibility into AI referral traffic at all. If the answer is no, that's fine today. It won't be fine in a year, and attribution gaps have a way of becoming permanent the longer you ignore them.
Worth watching, not worth panicking over. But somebody on your team should know this integration exists before a regional asks why lead sources look weird next spring.
