Amazon Just Put Ads Inside ChatGPT Conversations
Amazon is letting select US advertisers run campaigns inside ChatGPT conversations, and Delta Vacations is one of the first to test it, according to PPC Land. Instead of a banner or a search result, your ad shows up mid-chat, while someone's actually talking through a decision.
For apartment marketing, that's the interesting part. Nobody's typed "3 bed apartment near me" into a chatbot yet in volume, but that day is coming, and the operators who get in early get to shape what that experience even looks like. Right now you're buying ILS listings and paid search based on habits people formed a decade ago. Conversational commerce is a new habit forming in real time, and whoever tests it first gets the data on what actually works, while everyone else is still arguing about it in a vendor call next year.
The catch: attribution across this surface is unsettled, full stop. Nobody's published a clean model for what a "conversion" even means when the touchpoint is a back-and-forth chat instead of a click. If you've ever tried to explain to your VP why Google's modeled conversions don't match your CRM's, imagine that argument but for a chatbot.
So don't move your media budget. Move a hundred bucks and your curiosity. Run a small test in a market where you already have strong creative, treat it like a research project, and expect the reporting to be vibes-based for a while. The point isn't to prove ROI in month one. It's to not be the last operator standing in a channel that other people already understand.
