AI Chatbots Are Already Reviewing Your Property
Search Engine Journal published a piece this month with a blunt thesis: publishing more content doesn't fix what AI gets wrong about your brand. Too many versions of the truth is the actual problem. Not too little content. Too much of it disagreeing with itself.
Translate that to your world. A prospect asks ChatGPT what it's like to live at your community. The model doesn't tour your property or check your renovation timeline. It scrapes your website, your ILS listing from two lease-ups ago, a 2022 Yelp complaint about the old management company, and a Reddit thread from someone who moved out in a huff. Then it blends all of that into one confident paragraph and hands it to your prospect as fact. Nobody at your company wrote that paragraph. Nobody approved it. It's out there anyway, and it reads like a review.
Here's the part that should bother you specifically: this is a data hygiene problem wearing an AI costume. Your website says renovated units start at one price, your ILS listing says another, your Google Business Profile hasn't been touched since the last regional left. Google Ads already taught you that a platform will show you a guess and call it a count. AI Overviews just applies that same trick to your reputation instead of your conversion numbers.
The fix isn't a content sprint. It's an audit. Pull every place your community's name, pricing, amenities, and pet policy live in public, and make them agree with each other before an algorithm decides which version is the truth. Nobody's going to correct the AI for you.
